Building Brains has proven over the years to be a very healthy environment with minimal illness transmissions between children. We contribute this safety record to our already strict sanitation processes during our day. But, rest assured we will continue to: sanitize after every diaper change, meal, and any toys that go in the mouth. We will continue to follow strict handwashing procedures with both children and staff when: they walk into a classroom, shield a cough or sneeze, after going to the bathroom, before meals, and after coming in from outside.

Building Brains Academy is dedicated to providing the safest and healthiest environment for your child. We hope our current illness concerns pass quickly, and we will stay informed through national and state resources. Thank you for being a partner with us to improve upon our health and safety procedures.

On May 22, 2020 Governor DeSantis’, on Executive Order 20-131, lifted restrictions on childcare programs and allows summer camps and youth programs to become operational.

As a result of this Executive Order, there are now no limitations on group sizes only on capacity as licensed by DCF. However, they encourage to consider CDC recommendations for group sizes to remain small and social distancing measures.

BBA will be adhering to Local and Statewide Guidelines from the CDC, the Department of Children and Family and the Governor’s Executive Order 20-91 regarding Essential Services and Activities for Childcare Programs. We have also created additional Building Brains Policies to ensure we operate under the safest conditions possible.

At this time face coverings are REQUIRED for all of our staff and everyone entering our facility!

We are implementing the following safety guidelines:

Social distancing strategies in accordance with CDC recommendations

  • Teachers and staff will practice social distancing minimizing their interaction and being 6ft apart from each other when they must go into a shared space.
  • One teacher will be assigned to each classroom and should remain with the same group each day.
  • Our school has always operated in small groups but during this time, we will limit the mixing of children and keep each group of children in a separate room or area.

Maintain an adequate ratio of staff to children to ensure safety.

Cleanliness is our TOP PRIORITY - We have intensified cleaning and disinfection efforts throughout the day with EPA Registered Cleaning Products. All of our classrooms have a detailed cleaning list and schedule that focuses on toys, tables, chairs, soiled objects and frequently touched surfaces like:

  • doorknobs
  • light switches
  • handles
  • toilets
  • faucets and sinks
  • fabrics (soft surface sanitizer)

We have modified drop-off and pick-up areas to outside the facility to reduce the points of contacts therefore considerably reducing the spread of germ inside the facility.

Screening procedures will be in place to ALL individuals entering our facility according to CDC guidelines.

  • Temperature check for staff and children upon arrival
  • NO CHILD or STAFF WILL BE ALLOWED in school with ANY signs of illness, including flushed cheeks, rapid breathing or difficulty breathing (without recent physical activity), fatigue, or extreme fussiness; minor cold, cough, runny nose.
  • Children with seasonal allergies, will require a doctor’s note with clearance.

Educating and Guiding our Students to maintain safe behavioral practices

  • Increased handwashing frequency
  • Avoiding touching eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Best Practices when coughing or sneezing
  • Healthy Eating and Stay Active to promote good health

HERE’S WHAT WE ARE ASKING OF YOU:

  • Everyone entering our facility (including our staff) will need to wear a face covering. Here is more information from the CDC on the use of face coverings.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. And don’t forget to teach this practice to your children, as we do enforce this practice all day long at school.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Stay home away from others if you are sick
  • Cover mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands
